I decided that I am adding subscriber adventures to Lou's Place. There are so many friends that have had adventurous lives or have built something special and have tales to tell. Many are still having them.
The first is from a VHS & Montclair State College classmate, Carl DeHart, who sailed across the world with his family. (Go Carl!)
From Carl:
Please find photos of the "mighty Miss Muffet", a 60 foot, center cockpit ketch that I sailed my wife and two small daughters around the world, taking part in an organized rally with 28 other yachts. The "Ultimate Family Vacation".
The boat was a floating condominium with a Maytag washer and dryer, an icemaker, a watermaker that made 52 gallons of fresh water per hour. The autopilot did all the steering, two bread machines, an ice cream machine and home schooling from 9am until 12am, every day.
The youngest daughter has a PhD from Princeton and now has her own lab at the National Cancer Institute in Frederick, MD.
Β I gave out t-shirts all around the world and became famous as "Captain Muffet" and as you might guess, my wife is"Mother Muffet" while our youngest daughter is "Little Miss Muffet"
In my parents house, the saying was that if you didnβt get a college education, you would spend the rest of your life working at Kimble Glass. My Father got my brother Walt and I Summer jobs working at Kimble Glass two Summers in a row.
I worked hard to graduate from Newark College of Engineeering with a BSME in machine design to make sure I would not have to work there. It was not meant to be a downer on anyone who did stay and work there.
