This Post Doesn't Exist
“Biocentrism” by Dr. Robert Lanza is a drug-less acid trip. It will definitely rearrange your mind.
“The Universe is not only queerer than we suppose, it’s queerer than we can suppose”—John Haldane, “Possible Worlds” (1927)
I happened across Dr. Robert Lanza in an online publication one day. The full title of his book is “Biocentrism, How Life and Consciousness are the Keys to Understanding the True Nature of the Universe.’” He is primary writer with Bob Berman as associate.
In a nutshell, his basic premise is that we all assume that we are the consequences of the evolution of the universe—that the “Big Bang” started it off and as a result of a series of random events over fourteen billion years or so, we evolved.
The universe is solid and all the galaxies, stars, planets exist as a result of an “accidental by product of the results of physics.” Or, of course, you could believe God created everything in seven days.
Lanza proposes a paradigm shifting concept. The universe didn’t create us, we created the universe and create everything we see, hear, smell, touch. Without a biological entity creating it, nothing is really there.
It’s not solid at all. In fact, it doesn’t even exist outside of our eyes and ears and disappears the moment we turn out heads. Pretty radical, right? This was first published in 2010, since then studies in quantum physics has made this concept more feasible.
You could dismiss Lanza right off as a kook except for the fact he is an out-and-out genius. He is one of the most respected scientists in the world. U.S. News & World Report even likened him to Einstein. Right now he is chief scientific officer at Advanced Cell Technology Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
Lanza was part of the team that cloned the world’s first, early stage human embryos for the purpose of generating embryonic stem cells. He’s written scores of scientific books, including “Principles of Tissue Engineering,” which is recognized as the definitive reference in the field.
Unlike the slew of physicists who are theorizing about string theory, parallel universes and a hundred or so extra dimensions and create great constructs of how the universe operates with little or no proof, Lanza goes through a step by step explanation with scientific facts to back it up about how and why he believes biocentrism is the logical explanation to it all.
If you’ve at all been following the development of quantum physics and have a basic understanding of Einstein’s concepts of space, time and relativity, you can get through this book and take it seriously. The obvious response, is “Yeah, sure,” but if you take the time to consider it, it very well may alter your perception of reality.
Like most curious people, I’ve always been a seeker trying to understand why we are here, how we got here, and especially what is death and is it the end. I mean, what is this thing called consciousness?
It’s simple to adopt a cookie-cutter dogma that gives you a simple explanation to latch onto, but given that we have only been around for 40,000 years or so, we are barely scratching the surface of truth. It wasn’t that long ago we thought the earth was flat, that time and space were absolute and that the universe was stable and unmoving instead of rushing outward to disappear into nothingness.
In Lanza’s new world there is no time, space or solid objects as we currently define them. Our shared biological consciousness creates everything and in fact may not be destroyed.
Lanza’s biocentrism concept might be the next paradigm shift. His explanation makes sense out of many mysterious things. At the very least, he puts you back on your heels while you consider his arguments.
If you have a Kindle, the book is on Amazon for only $9.95. Hardback and softback also available. This is an unsolicited review. I get no royalty for this if you buy. The book is definitely worth the price. Once you’re on Amazon, you can click below the book photo to read a sample.
