Who Are South Jersey’s Budding Authors?
Plus, LIsten to the First Chapter of "Too Decent To Die"
I had the pleasure of meeting eight interesting authors at the Author’s Night at the Atlantic County Historical Society in Somers Point last month. There was a decent crowd of over thirty in the audience, which surprised me for a turnout in the middle of the week. It was a friendly and interested crowd as each of we authors gave a five minute presentation of his/her most recent book—all of them focused on New Jersey and more than a few on the Pinelands.
I got to pitch Scoundrels and Seafarers, which resulted in some brisk sales afterwards, I am happy to say. If you are a Jersey native and haven’t bought a copy, you’re missing out on some historical Jersey gems, not on just pirates but about their effect on the growth of New Jersey through black market activities and their inadvertent help in winning the Revolutionary War. Pick it up here on Amazon.
Above is a collage of the authors. I invited all of them to be highlighted here and pitch their books to you. Their write ups are starting to come in. I will be publishing them as they are sent. These are talented writers with incredibly interesting books on New Jersey and stories of historical people who lived here. A super group of interesting and talented folks.
Too Decent to Die Audio Preview
After a brief hiatus and having received some terrific feedback from readers, I have expanded the text of Too Decent to Die, my “Private Eyes tracks down the Billionaire Butcher book” to include more back story and history of the characters. I received excellent reviews, but the main criticism was, “not enough, give us more.”
I was fortunate enough to get acquainted online with Maxine Paetro, who writes books for James Patterson, and feedback from and a good friend who was an editor for the Detroit Daily News. They were kind enough to take some time to send me their comments, which I took to heart in my book revisions. You should buy it. It is definitely a page turner. A quick and exciting read with very interesting characters. Here’s a reading of the first chapter.
